On 3rd May 2024, UTAB students of Department of Management and Development studies (MDS) had a study tour at SINA Gerard Ese URWIBUTSO for the purpose of gaining a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship and marketing issues, and the role of entrepreneurs in promoting socioeconomic development of rural areas

They met with SINA Gerard the Owner and Managing Director of the URWIBUTSO Enterprise. He is one of successful entrepreneurs at international level. He shared with them his experience from the day one he started to do business until now.

He encouraged them to start thinking how they will also become prominent entrepreneurs by not waiting the time they will complete their studies.

He said: “Being a successful entrepreneur is a journey, you have to think positively and work hard with all your strength.  As young as you are you don’t have to sit and wait for the time you complete your studies to start thinking what to do; you have to start now by saving slowly by slowly.”

He added that simplicity, praying and resilience are keys which can help everyone to become successful in everything he/she is doing.

Students were happy to hear from this well-known successful entrepreneur, because they got factual testimony from him. They also confirmed that through this study tour they learnt new skills in the field of Entrepreneurship Management and explored career interests in entrepreneurship and marketing management.

This field visit to SINA Gerard Ese URWIBUTSO offered MDS students invaluable opportunities to connect theory with practice, deepen their understanding of entrepreneurship and marketing management, and cultivate the skills necessary for effective community engagement. By immersing themselves in diverse community contexts and engaging with practitioner and other stakeholders from different backgrounds, students were better prepared to address the complex challenges of entrepreneurship and marketing management practice with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to entrepreneurship.
