From October 6 to 17, 2025, three staff members from the University of Technology and Arts of Byumba (UTAB), Dr. Evariste Nshimiyimana, Dr. Jean Pierre Nshimiyimana, and Mr. Vedaste Uwihanganye are participating in an intensive training program on Advanced Technologies for Clean and Sustainable Energy at the University of Parma, Italy.
The training, organized under the GREATER Project and ACHIEVE-IT initiatives, brings together participants from partner universities in Rwanda, Ethiopia, Senegal, Niger, South Africa, Germany and Italy. This international collaboration aims to enhance participants’ technical expertise and foster cooperation in developing innovative, affordable, and environmentally friendly energy solutions.
Throughout the program, the participants are engaging in specialized lectures and hands-on sessions. They have also visited leading laboratories and research centers focusing on sustainable energy technologies, including:
- DIY small PV systems made from solar cells
- Water purification technologies
- Integration of PV systems into buildings
- Studies on thermodynamic fluid flow
These experiences provide valuable exposure to state-of-the-art technologies and emphasize the importance of environmental protection in advancing clean and sustainable energy development.
